Hello! I'm Amy, a comedian and a writer based in London. I have a rambunctious one-year-old daughter and lately I’ve been thinking about getting a dog.

When I was about five and having a bath one night, I asked my mother what ‘left-wing’ and ‘right-wing’ meant. She told me that right-wing people think that all the money you earn, you deserve to keep whereas left-wing people think you should give some of your money away to help people who need it. I remember thinking then that right-wing people were wrong and mean and left-wing people were right and kind. Despite my dad being a political journalist and my own career working in satirical comedy, my views have yet to become more sophisticated.

In What’s Left? I talk to a broad range of people on the left about what that means to them. From comedians to journalists, from people working in politics to those in your community trying to get the smaller local stuff done. The conversations are chatty and informal and designed to help us all feel more connected as a community.

If you like this sort of stuff, then when not also check out my dumb satirical comedy podcast, FeMANism, where Samantha Martin and I play men explaining feminism. Previously, I was a correspondent on Emmy Award-winning Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, and I also wrote and starred in BBC America’s Almost Royal and my debut series, It’s Personal with Amy Hoggart. I presented the critically acclaimed documentary American Cats and my articles have been published in Time Magazine and The Guardian.
